May 28, 2012

On this Memorial Day 2012 in the United States, we wish to offer our sincere and ever-lasting thanks and appreciation to our men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our great country.  Without the sacrifices, courage, passion, and dedication of our fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, neighbors, and others who serve in our military forces with pride and determination to protect our rights and our values against all who seek to destroy our principles of fairness, equality, and freedom, we would have little hope of reaching our personal goals. realizing our aspirations, and enjoying our freedoms.

Our Founding Fathers had the foresight to establish our essential rights and freedoms that no person or government may restrict or oppose. Anyone can engage in any legal activity of their choosing as long as their exercise of such right does not unduly restrict or affect the rights of others. The rules for our freedom and our individual rights have existed and persisted through hundreds of years of challenges and tribulations, both from within our borders and from external attacks. We have fought among ourselves on our own soil during the Civil War to protect the rights of all citizens and we have fought in distant lands in two World Wars and during other conflicts to stop threats on our sense of justice and freedom.

One of our most precious guiding principles is the protection of the right of all people to have and express their own opinions and values, and the protection of minority opinions and minority rights from being overwhelmed by the majority’s opinions and the unrestrained power of the majority and the wealthy. If some of us are threatened with the loss of this essential protection, all of us suffer.

This is why we, at, are so passionate about opposing efforts of powerful and well-financed special interest groups such as the well-organized health care industry and the high-paid lobbyists of wealthy medical malpractice insurance companies who seek to hijack our state legislatures and federal government to secure special protection of their financial interests and immunity from responsibility for valid medical malpractice claims at the expense of restricting or eliminating the rights of the less powerful, less organized, and less wealthy innocent victims of medical malpractice to seek and obtain fair and full compensation for their injuries and losses due solely to the medical negligence of careless medical providers.

While our service members righteously protect us from external forces intent on destroying our collective and individual rights and freedoms, we must respect and honor their efforts by fighting on the home-front against the internal efforts and pressures to subvert the rights of those harmed by the wrongful actions of others — we are a country that has always firmly stood for the premise of taking personal responsibility for our own wrongful acts or omissions that injure others, and we must now stand firm in our defense of this basic collective wisdom for medical malpractice victims.

It cannot be said too often that we all owe a great deal of gratitude to everyone who serves to protect us from those who fear individual freedoms and individual rights. We live in the greatest country that has ever existed, and we hope and pray that our country will continue to protect and honor each person’s freedom and right to live as they choose.
